Tequila,Jal and Guadalajara historic center

Its name comes from the Nahuatl word “Tecuilan” which means “place of tributes”. Tequila jealously guards some of its oldest traditions, such as the typical nine o’clock blessing, when the local priest blesses the inhabitants by ringing the bells three times. The town stops at that moment, the locals stand up and look towards the church.

Guadalajara was founded four times, first in Nochistlån (1531), then at Tonalå in 1533. The third establishment of Guadalajara took place in Tlacotlån in 1535, but the hostility of the local Indians pushed the Spaniards to make the final move to the present-day location in 1542. The conqueror Nuño Guzmån had commissioned Juan de Oñate to establish a town bearing the name of the place where he was born in Castilla (España, or Spain): Guadalajara.

Tlaquepaque (pronounced tlah-kep-pah-kee) is a lakeside village bordering the city of Guadalajara in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Below we’ll go over the history of this city, geography, climate, and all the things you can do when visiting this unique and vibrant city. Once you arrive, you won’t want to leave
Tlaquepaque is a word that comes from the Aztec Nahuatl language, meaning ‘place above clay land.’ Before the Spanish arrived, it was a kingdom ruled by a woman named Chiuapilli Tzapotzinco. Eventually, Nuño de GuzmĂĄn, a Spaniard, took possession of the kingdom and renamed it San Pedro in 1548. In 1921, a priest named Miguel Hidalgo started a movement for independence from Spain, which eventually succeeded.
